This Disclaimer applies to your use of Slopsleuth (the "Service") and to all reports, scores, flags, findings, and other outputs the Service produces (collectively, "Audit Output"). It supplements and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Slopsleuth is a triage and analysis tool — not a verdict service

Slopsleuth examines text for specific stylistic patterns historically associated with machine-generated prose. It produces transparent, auditable counts and rates of those patterns, plus a composite indicator of pattern density.

Slopsleuth does not — and cannot — definitively determine whether any given manuscript was written by a human, by a machine, or by some combination of the two. No tool currently in existence can do this with certainty.

The Audit Output is not:

a legal determination of authorship
an expert opinion in any judicial, regulatory, or contractual proceeding
a guarantee that a manuscript is or is not AI-generated
a substitute for human editorial, agentic, or curatorial judgment

False positives and false negatives are possible

AI-detection technology has inherent limitations. The Audit Output may:

Falsely flag human-authored prose with distinctive stylistic choices (minimalism, declarative voice, controlled repetition) as showing AI patterns.
Fail to flag AI-generated text that has been edited, rewritten, paraphrased, or generated by models specifically trained or prompted to evade detection.
Vary across versions of the Service as we add, remove, or retune audits.

You agree that the Audit Output is indicative, not conclusive.

No reliance for unilateral decisions

You agree that you will not rely on the Audit Output as the sole basis for:

Rejecting or deprioritizing a manuscript or its author
Terminating or modifying a publishing or agency contract
Accusing any person of misrepresenting the authorship of their work
Pursuing or defending litigation, arbitration, or administrative proceeding
Making any public statement about whether a particular work is AI-generated

If you choose to act on Audit Output, you must also exercise independent human editorial judgment.

Nothing in the Audit Output constitutes legal, accounting, copyright, contractual, or editorial advice. Consult appropriately qualified professionals for matters requiring such advice.

Calibration baselines

Our calibrations are derived from public-domain literary works, original benchmark text, and ongoing internal testing. Calibration is updated periodically. We make no representation that our calibrations are universally applicable to all genres, languages, periods, or styles.

Defamation risk

You acknowledge that disseminating Audit Output to third parties without context, or using it to publicly accuse a person of using artificial intelligence, may give rise to claims of defamation, breach of contract, or other liability — for which you, not EzPanda, are responsible.
